Starting from scratch and getting to print 120 million labels each year-this is Gicher Stampa today. Founded by Maura and Vittorio in 1977, it has 38 employees, as well as daughters and partners Gaia and Giada. They are the protagonists of CNA Storie of the Month. On the outskirts of Fermo, in the Marche region of Italy, they are relentlessly designing, processing and printing labels to suit all tastes and quench all whims. Swarowsky diamonds for wine destined for China, gold nibs for Montepulciano d’abruzzo. And more: bas-reliefs in wood and fabric.
“We were leaders in continuous forms. Our customers were major banking groups. Then the Internet came along and we had to reinvent ourselves,” Maura says. Then came the intuition of labels destined today to decorate wine bottles, cosmetic bottles, jams. On the horizon, new markets. “We are obtaining all the necessary certifications for the agribusiness sector. Once we finish this path, the idea is to explore the pharmaceutical market,” Maura explains.

With the advent of the Internet, we started over from scratch

Vittorio and Maura: the partnership of a lifetime, inside and outside the company

In Maura’s words, a lifetime of sacrifices. And alongside, a constant presence: that of her husband Vittorio. “Sacrifices are made in two,” says Maura, who recounts how from the very beginning of the business everyone had their own role. “I used to travel between 60,000 and 70,000 kilometers a year alone to promote the company. Then the first representatives arrived.” Maura is clear about how important attention to detail and careful study of customer needs is: “We focus on quality, we invest in machines. And we thoroughly study the company that commissions labels from us, so we can intercept their needs and make the right proposals, when we are also asked for the graphic design.”

Solar panels for self-generation of energy

And then there is the attention to the environment, starting with the self-production of renewable energy from the panels installed on the shed and LED lamps on the machinery. Partial, for an energy-intensive company like Gicher Stampa. “Today thanks to the panels we get 200 Kw. But that’s half of what we consume. That’s why we are considering buying land to install more plants for self-generation,” Maura explains.

An all-Italian market and not at all from the Marche region

Gicher Stampa produces labels for companies with locations throughout Italy, while intercepting the tastes of a global market. “Our clients are all over Italy and ship their products all over the world,” she says. But it is with bitterness that Maura observes that from the list of regions where client companies are based, the Marche market is completely absent. “Nemo propeta in patria,” she replies lapidarily, without hiding a hint of bitterness.
Maura has a long-standing experience with CNA, which in a vibrant territory like the Marche has an entrenched presence alongside businesses. “I’ve been in CNA for many years. It is an association that follows companies in all types of sectors in the area, offering assistance and ensuring in-depth study of fast-changing regulations.”
Gicher Stampa is the sum of many factors: of the tangible affection of those who work here. Of the special partnership with Vittorio, a partner in life and sacrifices for 50 years. Of the enthusiasm and drive of Giada and Gaia. But especially of Maura’s timeless charisma. “Those who choose this path must have entrepreneur blood running through their veins. Otherwise you don’t go anywhere.”
